Elsewhere, in the more Republican parts of the new 9th Congressional District, Republicans crowded into voting booths to help Republican-endorsed Marcy Kaptur pull off a win in the district that has been gerrymandered to almost eliminate the voice of genuine Democrats.
Gerrymandering: Violates First Amendment?
Fair representation is supposed to be the goal of legislative mapmaking. Partisan gerrymandering hijacks that process, allowing political power brokers — not voters — to pick winners and losers.
