“Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say that there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe”.
I’m not a scientist — nor do I play one on TV, yet when I honestly look at the ability of “competent” Ohio weather-persons to accurately predict a decent 5-day forecast — using high-tech gadgetry to track many real-time global weather indicators and well-documented historical patterns, I definitely doubt the wisdom of Al Gore and his followers to use the measurements of one (harmless) trace element encased in ancient ice to predict with absolute certainty the coming catastrophic change in our climate. Even Einstein’s relativity is just a theory and subject to debate.
On the other hand, there are the laws of gravity — where objects are attracted to the earth; and of politics — where corruption is attracted to politicians. To be blunt, global warming is the kind of science you get when you introduce politics and the corresponding laws that govern politicians — virtually none. If you think any politician who advances such political “science” would be able to form a plan to counter its impact — be prepared for disappointment.
It turns out, not only am I not alone in doubting the “science” of global warming, I have a lot of very good company. Before his death, Roger Revelle (Al Gore’s global warming mentor) coauthored a paper cautioning that CO2 and its greenhouse effect did not warrant extreme countermeasures.
Unfortunately, we are in the midst of “extreme countermeasures” forming a theocracy here in these United States, and the “Inconvenient Truth” will be our new Bible. I for one do not adhere to its tenets of faith and will refuse to pay a tithe to any such doctrine.
Why would our leaders advance the belief in global warming?
Follow the money.
In light of the United States’ financial problems, with no silver or gold in our vaults, no manufacturing base, and trillions owed to foreign entities — what else does the US have to sell besides a lot of hot air?
Which brings me to the newly named ‘commodity’ (you know, things like gold, platinum and silver?) of…carbon credits. Since no one in their right mind would want to buy such a ‘commodity’ voluntarily, the Obama Administration named the first Climate Czar – you can call her the Taxwoman.
If you’re like me and you aren’t down with our new Orwellian language, let’s review: It’s not torture, it’s harsh interrogation techniques! And for goodness sake, it’s not new taxes, it’s carbon credits! Now that we have the doublespeak dialect clarified, let’s get the new Climate Czar story straight. Last March, APX named the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency — our new Climate Czarina Carol Browner to their Board of Directors. According to their website, APX is:
“The leading infrastructure provider for environmental markets in greenhouse gases including carbon commodities. Users of these systems include all key market participants such as project developers, brokers, corporations, NGOs and government organizations.”
Mrs. Browner is quoted as saying:
“The explosive growth in environmental commodities trading will result in a greater need for market oversight. APX is a world-class environmental infrastructure company with a long history of public-private partnership, and I look forward to helping them capitalize on the full potential of these markets.”
Sleep well my friends. There’s no state capitalism or fascism in the new office of the Climate Czar. Sleep well.
Of course, Mrs. Browner is also a founding partner in the Albright Group, LLC, based in Washington, DC and headed by Clinton’s former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
The Group states that it helps clients to:
• Broker agreements with governments and businesses
• Find and build business relationships
• Secure capital
• Develop public-private partnerships.
• Identify and address political and regulatory risks
• Manage crises
• Enhance corporate responsibility.
• Build strategic relationships with opinion leaders
• Analyze privatization opportunities and offer strategic counsel for foreign investments
In other words, the Albright Group is a lobbying firm. On February 23, 2006 the Associated Press reported:
“Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., rebuffed a Dubai Port World lobbying attempt by former Clinton administration environmental chief, Carol Browner, who’s a principal in the lobbying firm run by former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.”
Browner visited Schumer because the following week, the ports of New York and New Jersey were to be handed over to Dubai Port World [DPW], which won the $6.8 billion deal while a client of the Albright Group. DPW is owned by the government of Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.
According to a report on June 19, 2006, DPW still owned and ultimately controlled operations at 22 U.S. ports through their subsidiary, London-based P&O. DPW eventually sold P&O to AIG (American International Group) for an undisclosed sum. Now that AIG has been bailed out by the American taxpayer, maybe the US will finally get a chance to bid on contracts for our own port security.
Whether it’s hiring foreign-held companies to secure US ports, fighting terrorism by terrorizing Iraq, winning freedom by handing over our rights, defeating the axis of evil with ‘harsh interrogation techniques’ (a.k.a. torture) or countering global warming with carbon credit (taxes), current United States policies are exactly the opposite approaches that could build a stronger, more prosperous nation.
Our new Climate Czarina, Carol Browner has a tremendous ethical conflict to be both responsible for a solution to the “science of global warming” while also sitting on the APX Board of Directors — a company which sells carbon credits to governments. In addition, Browner’s lobbying efforts are not only contrary to Obama’s stated policies concerning lobbyists, but in addition, it was done on behalf of a foreign government.
It is worth noting that on Browner’s last day of “service” at the Environ-mental Protection Agency under then-President Clinton, she deleted her office’s computer files — despite specific orders not to do so. Will the new Climate Czar office accidentally “misplace” more electronic files as Browner has already done — without any reprimand?
The whole “climate crisis” scenario reminds me of Vice President Dick Cheney’s conflict of interest with Halliburton, now headquartered in Dubai, when he “solved” the “terrorism” problem with no-bid contracts for Halliburton products.
Did the Obama fans chant, “We want change!?” The Obama camp seems to have heard, “We want Chains!” How do all these crazy mythunderstandings start? I suspect that the problems of “terrorism” and “global warming” share the same level of danger to Americans — almost none.
Like the global “War on Terror” the global war on carbon is just another for-profit, manufactured crisis. The American people would do well to remember that the power to tax is the power to destroy, and if there is anything we should fear about global warming, it’s the carbon credit “solution.”
